The Civic Committee is involved in a wide range of projects and much
of the work is guided by its sub-committees or task forces, including
the Aviation Task Force — Chaired by Tyrone C. Fahner; and
the Education Committee — Chaired by David B. Weinberg; and the Illinois State Task Force - Chaired by W. James Farrell. Through
these groups or in affiliation with other business, community and
govermental organizations, the Civic Committee is implementing projects
and programs that include the following:
Education
- Providing business sector leadership in support of the reform of the Chicago public school system and public school financing;
Aviation
- Improving the efficiency and capacity of the regions' airports;
State Finance
- Review of the current health of the State's financial system and recently released report entitled Facing Facts: A Report of the Civic Committee’s Task Force on Illinois State Finance.
Economic Development
- Stimulating inner-city economic development opportunities to strengthen Chicago's neighborhoods and create jobs for inner-city residents;
- Promoting the region as a strong location for high tech businesses.
